We know that airport flooring needs to be durable, hard wearing and long-lasting, but it also needs to offer patrons comfort and a warm invitation to stop for a moment, breathe and relax, even amidst the hustle and bustle of a busy airport. As a result, airport carpet requires unique considerations for pile, pile height and pile weight.
Created as a space for travellers boarding pre-COVID international services flown by Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways, then temporarily taken over by Rex, Canberra Airport’s bustling international lounge now provides a club lounge experience to all international travellers, with customised Nolan Carpets carpet tiles underfoot.
Nolan Carpets GA680 carpet tile was recommended by the contract installer Master Carpet ACT for its plush finish and luxurious comfort under foot, while being durable enough to perform in a high traffic area.
Given the consistent foot and luggage traffic of the airport and the demand that places on flooring, we had the GA680 tiles customised to 12.5mm pile height (standard pile height is 9mm) with a pile weight of 50.2oz (standard pile weight of 29.5oz).
The modular carpet tiles also allow for quick, convenient and affordable replacement if damaged by airport traffic.
Contemporary carpet shades were specified to segregate areas, create innovative seating modules and designate walkways throughout the luxury airport lounge features including state of the art business and media lounges, a large bar and café dining area and a variety of different seating and meeting areas, ranging from formal business-oriented spaces to relaxed social and private spaces.
The carpet tile installation at the airport is supported by our 15 year warranty (in accordance with our warranty criteria) for ultimate peace of mind.
